Hi, my name is Maria and my initials are M.A.D., so that's how I got my nickname.
Or perhaps it was because my class think I'm a bit odd.
I've been teaching in London and Hertfordshire primary
schools since 1990 and I'm a big fan of children's books.
My favourite authors are
Diana Wynne Jones, Robert Westall, J R R Tolkien, Philip Pullman and J K Rowling.
I grew up in
Cannock in Staffordshire, but now I live in Hertford with my pet husband Chris (Mr Mad)
and my twin daughters, Cathy and
Laura. Before the girls arrived, I liked snorkelling
and cross-stitch but it was difficult to do them both at the same time. So now I just read lots of books.
