Mrs Mad's humble opinion
10/10 Excellent work. Well done!
What's it about?
Seven days, seven keys, a mysterious house and one boy one won't die when he is supposed to!
What happens?
Arthur Penhaligon is about to die, he can feel the cramping in his chest as the asthma attack takes over his body. Then suddenly a strange man appears, Mister Monday, he gives Arthur a key and a notebook and Arthur can breathe again. This was not what was meant to happen, Arthur should have died and the key returned to Mister Monday. So now mister Monday and his dog-faced servants want the key back and are spreading some terrible plague around the local people in their search for Arthur. There is only one thing Arthur can do, he must enter the strange house that has appeared and face whoever or whatever is inside!
Is it easy to read?
This is easily read by a competent reader and suitable for both boys and girls.
Anything else?
It's wonderful when you find a whole new world inside a book and you know there are more books in the series! Garth Nix has moved away from the world of the 'Abhorsen' and has created something totally different but just as good. This is brilliant storytelling, the book rockets along, filling your mind with all you could ever want to know about the world of Mister Monday. It is gripping, well written and unputdownable. Bring on 'Grim Tuesday', I'm ready for Ya!!
Other books by Garth Nix include Abhorsen, Lirael, Sabriel.

And what do you think?
Stephen, south camden community school
I liked the book because its funny but also sad. It"s a drama and a fantasy. It"s a book about a boy with asthma who is given a key and an atlas which helps him breathe and get through anything.
